Description
This article provides the steps to backup your entire Tracker installation.
  1. Save a copy of your license information
    If you need to reinstall, you will need to re-enter that information. To check license information:

    Go to Start -> Programs -> NetResults Tracker -> License Manager on the machine on which NetResults Tracker is installed.

  2. Back up the database for the Workgroup Management System
    The Workgroup Management System database is located at:

    <installation directory>/ptadmin/Database/ptadmin.mdb

    where the installation directory is typically C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\NetResultsTracker

    Make a copy of the ptadmin.mdb file and keep it in a safe place.

  3. Back up the User Management System database

    The User Management System / License Administration database can be found at:

    <installation directory>/ptcommon/Database/ptcommon.mdb

    where the installation directory is typically C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\NetResultsTracker

    Make a copy of the ptcommon.mdb file and keep it in a safe place.

  4. Back up the databases of all Tracker workgroups
    1. If you are using Access database with Tracker:

      The database file for each workgroup needs to be backed up. The database file can be found at the following location

      <installation directory>/workgroup/Database/Bugtrack.mdb

      The installation directory is typically C:\InetPub\wwwroot\NetResultsTracker You can also check for the location of a workgroup through the Workgroup Management System (WMS). Login into WMS. All workgroups will be listed on the WMS Home Page. Click on the View icon to the left of the workgroup. The Location field in the General section displays the path to the workgroup files. The Database folder which contains the bugtrack.mdb file is located one level below the path listed for Location.

      Make a copy of the bugtrack.mdb file for each of your Tracker workgroups and keep them in a safe place.

    2. If you are using MySQL, SQL Server or Oracle with Tracker:

      MySQL, SQL Server and Oracle database files are not standard files and cannot be backed up by a simple file copy or simple file backup to tape. You need to use the Backup operation in MySQL, SQL Server or Oracle and backup the database for each of your Tracker workgroups and keep them in a safe place.

  5. Back up the file attachments of all workgroups
    To backup the file attachments, you need to back up the contents of the following directory for each workgroup:

    <installation directory>/workgroup/Attachments

    The installation directory is typically C:\InetPub\wwwroot\NetResultsTracker You can also check for the location of a workgroup through the Workgroup Management System (WMS). Login into WMS. All workgroups will be listed on the WMS Home Page. Click on the View icon to the left of the workgroup. The Location field in the General section displays the path to the workgroup files. The Attachments folder is one level below the path listed for Location.

    Make a copy of the contents of the Attachments folder for each of your Tracker workgroups and keep them in a safe place.
